Traveling Chilaca Journal

Welcome to my little tiny corner of the cyber world, based out of San Miguel de Allende, Mexico! Below you will see favorites from my professional sessions and assignments, as well as loads of personal nonsense that I hope at least will entertain you. If nothing else, you can keep up on a funny travel photojournal!

My name is Holly and I love to document the world around me through the visual media.   Welcome to my world.

arch of identity, shattering feathers,

is only spume when it clears,

and returns to its source, unconsumed.

Before holiday travels do take us apart,
We gather together one more time.
To sup on Vicky’s feast,
And catch up on our week,
And listen to just one more rhyme.

There was ISA in the bear hat, so cute from the start,
talking to everyone and winning their heart.

Her sister SOFI, who was so very great,
And who with us her birthday did grandly celebrate.

And who could forget NATY, maturing with grace,
Always tolerant of Dylan, with a smile on her face.

The one boy aboard, the one called we call ‘D’,
Either napping or eating or taking pictures obsessively.

All four of them teens, or very soon to be,
Seasoned travelers all, and so happily free.

Then there was the beautiful blithe spirit of SKY,
who turned out to be just a fabulous guy.

And of course the lithe HOLLY, our guide with the eye,
Who managed us all with a holler. Or a sigh.

CAPTAIN MICK was the man with the big surprise,
How he loved to pilot boats, with the seas in his eyes.

And VICKY who danced with such liquid grace,
Swaying to the tunes with a smile on her face.

MARTIN discovered that once he said ‘YES’,
The trip to Guate was as good as it gets.

And LIZA, who once she had 3 glasses of wine,
Entertained one and all, at least some of the time.

To let’s toast to each other, in love and brotherhood,
And get planning the next trip, while we’re feeling this good!

Once you come to San Miguel, there is a certain magic that keeps bringing you back…and for some, even moving here. So, as befits the magic…for my last wedding of this year I was welcomed to an amazing couple, Christine and Mike, and to this gorgeous house named Las Tortugas. It was a small and private wedding with family and close friends, and an evening to be remembered for ever.

And what a delight to go through all of them and remember Veronica and Luis’s Wedding.  I have to say, you already know that joining Nicaragua and Mexico means you are ready for a treat and going to have a fabulous time! I will let the photos speak for themselves…thank you for having me document your special day…
