tiger’s nest

Taktshang is Bhutan’s most famous monastery, clinging off a cliff at 900m above the Paro valley. There are no sounds, but those of the winds, the waterfalls and the monks chanting their daily prayers. Dr. Karma and I started off at 7:30 am, the first heading up..the first to the top, walking in the foggy forest and taking it all in. Every tenth of the month is a special day in the buddhist calendar, so many people were trekking up to pray. Taktshang means “Tiger’s Nest” and it is believed that Guru Rinpoche flew to this spot on the back of a tigress.
